What is a three-compartment septic tank?
A three-compartment septic tank is a type of wastewater treatment equipment used to treat sewage. It is usually used to break down and separate the solid, liquid and gaseous components in sewage. Using ozone fermentation, the proportion of manure and parasite eggs in the middle layer is greater than that of the general mixed liquid, making it easier to precipitate.

The basic structure of a three-compartment septic tank
Sedimentation Chamber (Front Chamber): The first grid is usually the sedimentation chamber, which is the starting point for wastewater entry. In this chamber, sewage slows down the flow, allowing heavier solid particles (such as silt and organic matter) to settle to the bottom, forming a sludge layer. This process is called sedimentation. After the solid particles settle, the liquid portion flows to the next grid.

Anaerobic fermentation chamber (middle chamber): The second grid is the anaerobic fermentation chamber, also known as the biochemical reaction chamber. Here, the settled wastewater is decomposed by microorganisms, producing gases (such as methane) and decomposition products of organic matter. This process takes place under anaerobic or anaerobic conditions and is therefore called anaerobic fermentation. The gas rises to the top of the lattice and can be vented through ventilation ducts or captured for use as an energy source.

Sedimentation chamber (back chamber): The third compartment is usually the sedimentation chamber, which is used to further settle residual solid particles and bacteria in order to purify the liquid. In this grid, the water is further purified and the clean liquid is eventually discharged, usually into the ground or into a sewage system.

The main goal of a three-compartment septic tank is to remove solids and organic matter from wastewater, purify the wastewater and reduce negative impact on the environment. It is often used in areas without modern sewage treatment facilities to help improve sanitation and water quality.
